I'm Stuck and I Can't Get out

Last Saturday we helped my sister move. Lots of us were there so it didn't take too long. Emma was an angel. I would tell her to stay in one place or to sit in a chair and not move, and she would do it. She didn't move until I told her to. Her staying out of the way made it possible for both Eric and me to help. I'm so grateful to have a little girl who listens and minds me so well.

Just a side note...

Just in case you were wondering, it's a bad idea to let your kids eat sugar and drink sugar for dinner, and then try to put them to bed any time afterwards. I just thought I would share this little factoid with you in case you didn't already know. You're welcome.

The real story is that we went to Costco the other night, took too long there, decided to buy Emma a Churro and let her drink some of Eric's Rootbeer (which he claims I pronounce 'rutbeer', which I so don't!), came home, realized it was past her bedtime, got her ready for bed, and tried to put her down. She was literally jumping of the walls (okay, by walls I actually mean floor - but she was going CRAZY). Now, usually she eats much better than that because I usually try to be a responsible parent. Obviously I fell short this time (okay, so I fall short lots of times at being a responsible parent, but who's counting?). So, just in case you were planning on serving sugar with a side of sugar for dinner sometime, you may want to rethink those plans. Not such a good idea.

Emma's Antics

Emma's new favorite game to play with Eric is very simple and inexpensive. So I have nothing to complain about. Eric on the other hand, doesn't like it much. She attacks him and knocks him down, then proceeds to climb onto him and breathe in his face. I don't know about your kids, but Emma's breath isn't always the best, so this can be kind of like torture. She laughs while Eric gasps, and I laugh at both of them.

Too Cute

I love how kids play. I love that they take the everyday and play it out with their toys, and it's fun to them. I know they also use their imaginations and create crazy things and places too, but this is about the first scenario rather than the latter. Earlier tonight Emma was playing in her room with her trains, and Eric went in to play with her. They were each being a train, and Emma's train told Eric's train that it was time for church. She then (or rather her train) dropped Eric off to play with the kids (she's just started attending Primary, so nursury is still what she thinks of) and then showed him where the chapel was and told him that is where we eat the Brot (bread) and Wasser (water) (or Abendmahl as she calls it - german for sacrament). She told him to be quiet and play nicely and to whisper.

I thought it was really cute, although I have no idea why this is fun. I guess it's what she knows. The last thing I want to do is come home from church and pretend that I'm there again. Don't get me wrong, I love the gospel and enjoy attending church, but there are other things I like too. It's like when I was a kid and on Saturday would play school with my brother. Seriously?! You'd think with going to school all week long that on Saturday it would be last thing I'd want to pretend to be doing. I don't remember why that was fun. Is there a deeper psychological reason for this kind of thing other than just our familiarity with the situation? Can anyone shed some light on this for me? Either way, I still think it's dang cute.
