Proud Mom Moment

This morning when Emma got up she came into my room and found me sitting on my bed. She climbed up, sat down, and said, "Let's have a talk." I asked what she wanted to talk about and she said, "Jesus was baptized, let's talk about that." So we talked about it and we talked about her being baptized and she held up 8 fingers and declared that's when she would be baptized. Then she said she sings the song about Jesus getting baptized in Primary, so we sang it together. She was awesome! I didn't know she knew all the words (at least to the first verse, I couldn't remember the other verses right off to even try to sing them with her). I was a tired, but very proud Mom.

How to Relax

I got back last weekend from a very relaxing trip. I went to St. George and met some family there. We were there for a week, and every moment was fun. I went down alone and met my sister-in-law for a couple days, and then Eric came down with Emma while Dave came up for the weekend. We swam, played games, biked, and had lots of frozen treats. I kept Emma when Eric went home. After our week in St. George was done, we went to Las Vegas to keep the party going. We stayed with Janna's parents, and even had an unexpected trip to Lake Mead. Emma loved that.

You are probably wondering why there aren't any pictures posted yet. There were many things I could've taken a picture of, but I decided not to. I can't tell you how nice that was. To relax and have fun to the point of not even worrying about taking pictures. If you've never tried it, I highly recommend it. I did take some pictures at Lake Mead, but that was it. I love taking pictures and love even more looking at them later, but there wasn't anything monumental going on, so it was the perfect time to forget about the camera. It was a lot of fun, and I definately want to do it again sometime. I don't remember the last time I giggled so much (seriously I felt like I was 13 or something). Thanks to Dave and Janna for spending the time with us, and thanks to the Hollers for being so hospitible. Emma misses those dogs so much!

Nurse Emma

Eric was sick this week, but luckily is now starting to feel better. When he was first sick, before I thought it might be a bad flu or something and quaratined him to the bedroom, Emma was helping to take care of him. She was so concerned and helpful. (Eric's face is blurred because he wasn't too excited to have his picture taken while being sick).

July 4th Highlights

I have always loved the layed back relaxed holidays. I enjoy just being with friends and family and having fun. There is always so much to pick and choose from on the 4th, from breakfasts to lunches and carnivals, water activities, sports, picnics or BBQs, games, fireworks, and of course, trying to hit people's feet with those poppers. Trust me, the last one is the most fun.

This year Emma said she wanted to go swimming, so we didn't say no. She loves diving for rings, and Eric let her try with all of them instead of just one. Of course, she needs a little help getting down to them - otherwise she just stays at the top with her head under and her arms reaching out.
Knowing she would be up later than usual we wanted to make sure she got a nap. And as soon as she was up we were off to get together with family. When they weren't trying to pilfer food prior to dinner, the kids were watching movies and playing outside on the swings (I think all of them got hurt on the swing at least once that day, but they all got right back on), blowing bubbles and throwing bean bags. They tried their hand at ping pong, but that was mostly for the adults. Eric went undefeated which I was happy about until he beat me too (not that I'm great or anything, I just don't like to lose). Dinner was great (you can't beat grilled corn on the cob), and it was wonderful being outside.
Not long after eating the kids were anxious to get going with some fireworks, so we did some smoke bombs. They went crazy running through all the different colors of smoke. When it was finally dark enough to somewhat enjoy sparklers they did those too. Then we walked over to watch the fireworks show at the park. Between the fireworks, all the people, and their glow sticks, the kids were extremely well entertained. The older 2 stayed up for some of our own fireworks, but Emma didn't really like the screamers. She preferred the quiet ones.
We got home just after midnight, and hurried to bed. It was another great holiday! I love that we get to have so much fun and then get to do it again in 3 weeks! You gotta love back to back holidays like that. Plus it's just that much more time Eric has paid off of work. The summer is going by so quickly! Even as an adult I think it's too short.
