Minnie & Mickey

Emma's been doing something recently that cracks me up, so I thought I would share. While at Disneyland she said she wanted a Minnie Mouse. She had one already, but just not with us in the park. I didn't really want to buy her another one, so my compromise was buying a small key chain one. Later my mom bought her a small Mickey Mouse key chain. They are now her "travel" friends. Anyway, I handed her the small Minnie and said, "Now you have a mini Minnie," not realizing at first how that would sound to her. I kept calling it that (admitedly partly because it was annoying to my sister), and then after Emma got her Mickey, I heard her call it her "Mickey Mickey." It makes perfect sense too, but is just so cute. I love the minds of little kids.

Witchy-Poo

We went out to Garnder Village again last night. Emma wanted to see the witches again. It was fun taking her picture with pumpkins and witches all over.

On a different subject, lately Emma has been very interested in the goings on in the bathroom. She's potty trained, but seems to have a vested interest in what exactly we do in there. She'll ask us if we need to pee etc, come running in half the time (does privacy exist when you have kids?) and then (still remembering her training) will give us high fives when we make it to the potty successfully. So, can you imagine the spike in her curiosity last night when she saw this?

Mein Liebschen

Lately I have been feeling extremely grateful for my husband. He does so much for Emma and me, and asks so little (if anything) in return. He doesn't complain, he's not high maintenance, he's not fanatical about anything (you know like the over the top never does anything else but talk about, watch, or play sports sports fans), is a great cook, is handy around the house, is an awesome dresser (seriously - he's the nicest dressed man I know), is an adoring father, and a terrific husband. He's supportive of anything I want to do, and always puts my happiness ahead of his own. He's smart, spiritual, patient, funny, and hard working. He's also an excellent teacher. He loves the outdoors as much as I do (probably more), and is always game for camping or hiking or tennis or whatever. His absolute favorite thing to do is just spend time with Emma and me. Seriously, he's at his happiest when he's playing with Emma (unless it's her Pretty Pretty Princess game for the 10th time - I get really sick of that one too). I love watching the two of them play. It just makes me happy. I could easily fill volumes with good things about him. Don't worry, I won't do that here, but if you ever want to hear more awesome things about him (and I know you do) just call me. =)

I didn't do a post on his birthday because I was (hee hee) in California going to Disneyland. Aren't I a good wife? Every year right around his birthday (October 6th) Disney releases another one of their movies. Many times I've wanted or needed what they've released so I'll buy it. I can't really use it as a present for Eric, so it's always been this joke between us that I buy myself a present for his birthday. Well, this year I didn't need the released movie, but not wanting to do without a present myself I decided to just go to Disneyland. It's the time that worked best for my mom and sister, and he's so unselfish that he wanted us to go even though it was his birthday. We celebrated before, but I never mentioned anything about it here. So happy belated birthday honey! I love you.

The Dentist

Yesterday Emma had her second dentist appointment. At her first one the dentist just looked in her mouth and got her used to the office. She sat in my lap the entire time. Perfect teeth of course. This time she had her first actual cleaning. She sat in the chair, had the bib put on, and had her teeth "tickled" and cleaned. She looked thoroughly amused the whole time. She did a great job. As we walked down the hall back to the elevator after we were done she looked up at me and said, "That was fun Mommy." Fun? At the dentist? The ironic part is that for a very short time when I was little I had this exact same dentist. I didn't like him. It's only fair to say that it was because I was losing alot of teeth during those few years and on my first three visits to him he pulled a tooth every time. That wasn't the best way to make me a fan. Luckily we switched dentists soon, so I didn't have to deal with him. I know I was just paranoid because he really is a very nice man and an extremely good dentist. Emma sure liked it there.
