My Trip part 2

We flew from Phoenix to Denver to spend the weekend with Eric's family. Eric had driven back to meet us there. Emma loved the plane! I think this was her 10th time on a plane, so she's done it several times before, but this was the first time she had her own seat. Maybe it was having her own seat or just being older, but she seemed so much more aware of everything that was going on. She loved looking out the window and thought it was funny seeing all the cars and buildings get so small. She also liked going through the clouds. She asked if we were in outerspace.

If you look closely, you can see that Emma had written "Janna" with 2 extra n's.

We had breakfast with Eric's parents and sister (and her family) before she left town. It was fun seeing her oldest again, and we got to meet her youngest son for the first time. He was so cute! All smiles the entire time. I can't wait to go back next week and spend more time with them.

It looks like they're actually playing doesn't it!

One morning Emma made pancakes with Grandma. She was so excited because we make them at home all time, but now she got to do it with Grandma - which is much better than just mom or dad!

We had dinner with Eric's extended family and ate outside in the yard. It was such beautiful weather. It was fun seeing everyone.

The boys were playing Bocce.

One of the reasons for our trip was to pick up a bed that Eric's dad had made for Emma. It turned out awesome! It's really nice, and looks great in her room. She loves it. She also has new Tinkerbell sheets (thanks to Grandma) and a new quilt (thanks to Great Grandma) to enjoy along with it.

Here you can see some of the detail work (awesome!)

While there, Emma slept in the library, and complained about being scared of a picture of George Washington they have over the mantel. I guess I'll have to work on her patriotism. Her first night she chose to sleep in the corner with all the children's books. In the picture you can see a ladder on the right. It goes up to a little loft where the grandkids usually like to sleep, but Emma really didn't like climbing down the ladder, so she opted for the ground level.

Emma was perfect in the car on the way home, and was really excited to see her room when we got here. It was a long trip, but a fun one.

My Trip part 1

I'm finally home after a long trip to Phoenix and Colorado (we got home on Monday, but I haven't felt like blogging quite yet. I guess I still needed a break). It was really fun, but it's always nice to come home. Especially when you have a 3 year old with you. Emma was an angel the entire trip, but she missed her room and her toys. I think she also missed having one on one time with me. Since she's an only child she isn't used to sharing my attention. Maybe before my next trip I'll ingore her little...ya know, just to prep her. =)

While in Phoenix Emma had swimming lessons. She went m-f both weeks. She had fun and learned so much! I had heard how awesome the instructor was, but seriously I'm floored with how much she learned. Erin you're the best! Not only can Emma go under water (and likes doing it now) she can float on her back, jump in from the side and swim to me, grab a ring from the bottom of the pool (with a little directional help and a shove), and kick her legs like crazy to help her swim around. She's not perfect at all of these (far from it), but considering she could do none of them before, I'd say her lessons were a success.

She had fun attending my sister-in-law's preschool and playing with all the kids. She even told me she misses one of the boys who is friends with my nephew. Our last day there he was playing with Ethan and said he wanted to play with Emma before she left. Yesterday she told me she missed Austin. Wow, kids make friends fast! I helped a little with the preschool (mostly just staying out of the way) and made treats a couple times for the kids. They graduated while we were there and all looked so cute in their hats. I loved seeing Emma with them too.

Emma enjoyed seeing her cousin. She stayed in his room on her mattress that I brought, and they even managed to get some sleep. They "swam" outside in the yard one day, and enjoyed spraying water at each other (and us).

We went swimming together one day to practice all their new swim skills, and it was so relaxing being in the water. I can't wait to keep swimming here now that it's getting a little warmer.

It was fun to be there, and the heat wasn't even that bad. It was only around 100 degrees while I was there. Not bad considering how hot it will be there later in the summer. Thanks again Janna for inviting me and for putting up with me for 2 weeks.

American Idol

I'm back from my trip and I'll post about that soon. I just had to say how disappointed I was that Adam Lambert didn't win. He should have. I like Kris, but Adam was better. Maybe this will give a career boost to Kris, which Adam won't need. Oh Well.

The Zoo

Today I went to the zoo with an old friend of mine. She had a baby awhile ago, but we haven't been able to get together so today I met her cute little boy. He's so adorable. It was so fun walking and talking and catching up. I've known this friend since forever (we grew up in the same ward & neighborhood), and I've missed hanging out with her. We discovered that we live about 6 blocks from each other, so I hope we'll get together again soon. Thanks Jodi (and Timothy) for a really fun morning!
